Structural
Analysis
Many
broadcast towers were designed and built long before the latest
CAD programs were available. Some towers were designed with manual
calculations or very early computer systems that were extremely
limited in the number of fields they could process. Utilizing
the latest generation structural analysis tools can provide a
very clear picture of what a tower can actually accommodate. In
many cases, towers that were thought to be fully loaded can have
additional capacity by simply adjusting guy tension, adding redundants
or other simple changes.
In
addition to knowing the true capacity of a tower, insurance companies
as a result of recent high profile losses are demanding to know
the true status of the heavy structures they are insuring. If
your insurer has not already requested an updated analysis of
the tower, they probably soon will.
