Acceptance Inspection

A new tower is only as good as the way it was built. Fabrication errors and assembly errors can lead to latent problems. Before paying that final payment for a new tower having it inspected by a competent tower inspector can save thousands of dollars in maintenance during the early life of the tower. A new tower should be checked for Plumb and if it is a guyed tower, the tensions need to be verified. Anchor alignments should be evaluated for placement as well as lateral and vertical twist and tilt. The tower shaft should be inspected for damage to materials and finish. Bolt torques should be verified and the tower shaft inspected for loose or missing pieces. Lighting conduits, electrical conduits and junction boxes inspected for proper installation. Lights, elevator, grounding, appurtenances and lines all need to be examined before the crew leaves the site.
